Delivery zones
A zone answers two questions a delivery firm hears every day: do you deliver to 936 01? and when? It holds a set of postal codes, the weekdays it is served, the delivery window, the order cutoff, a depot and a colour for the map.
The postal codes
The codes are references to the platform's postal-code list — the same list the map search and the address resolution use — so a zone knows every place a code covers, its district and its point on the map. There are three ways to fill a zone:
- Paste a list. Commas, spaces or new lines separate the codes; the
inner space of a code is optional (
936 01and93601are one code). The screen reports how many codes were added, how many the zone already held, and which ones the list does not know. - Add an area. Every code of a district, a municipality or a region —
typed by name or by its geo code (
Okres Trebišov,SK.03.811). - The picker. The zone's field editor offers the search-as-you-type picker over the whole list.
Note
The six ColdExpress zones — 1 215 codes across Slovakia — went in by pasting six lists. Six of the codes the firm's table carried are not in the postal list; the screen named them, the rest resolved.
Days, window, cutoff
A zone served on Tuesday and Thursday with a 12:00 cutoff one day
before takes a Monday-morning order for Tuesday and a Monday-afternoon
order for Thursday. The window (08:00–16:00) is what the customer reads
on the tracking page and in the mails.
The zone screen
Beyond the fields, the zone screen shows the coverage: how many codes and places the zone holds, which districts it touches (with the count of places in each), and — the thing worth a warning — codes that sit in more than one zone. Overlaps are allowed (an express zone over a standard one) but every one of them is named.
The public lookup and the map
The shipped page Where we deliver (/kde-rozvazame/) lists the zones
with their days and, with a postal code typed, narrows to the zones that
serve it — or says the firm does not deliver there yet. The coverage
map is the platform's map block fed by the transport door
(/api/web/v1/transport/coverage): every postal place of every zone as a
point in the zone's colour, with the search box. Place the block where
you want it; the ColdExpress site keeps it above the lookup.
Both pages are views of the firm's own zones: another firm's zones never appear, however the two firms name them.
