Writing and editing

The text editor

Every rich-text field — an article body, a block, a product description, a term description, a mail template, a documentation page — is written in the same editor, and what you set there is what every reader gets.

Alignment

Left, centre, right and justify apply to paragraphs, headings, list items, quotes, images and table cells — select a cell (or several) and press the alignment button.

The alignment is kept everywhere the text is shown: the public website, the ERP, the back-office previews, sent e-mails, printed PDF documents and the API. Open the text again and the editor shows the same alignment.

Why only alignment

The editor never stores free styling (colours, fonts, positions) in the text: a text format decides what may be kept, and alignment is the one style every format keeps. Pasted text loses everything else — on purpose, so a page always looks like the site and not like the document it was copied from.

The toolbar stays in reach

In a long text the toolbar pins itself to the top of the screen, under the back office's own top bar, while you scroll through the editor — so every command is one click away from where you are writing. When you scroll past the end of the editor, the toolbar goes with it; on a form with two editors, each keeps its own.

Editing from the website

Signed in, you can change what you see without looking for it in the back office.

  • The page pencil — top right, in the dark bar above the site. It opens the edit form of exactly the page you are reading: the article, the product or hardware item, the category page, or the listing's settings. Reading the Slovak page? It opens the Slovak translation (or the translations overview when there is none yet).
  • The block pencils — move the pointer over any block (on a phone they are always shown) and a pencil appears in its corner. A text block offers Edit block content; every block offers Configure block; a listing block also offers Edit view, a menu block Edit menu.

Press Save and you are back on the same page of the website, with the change in place. Back to the website page at the top of the form does the same without saving.

Who sees the pencils

Only someone who may edit that thing, on that firm's site: a pencil is offered after the same permission check the back-office form itself makes. Visitors never see them, and neither do editors of another firm — and the page a visitor receives (and any cache in front of the site keeps) is exactly the page without pencils: they are asked for separately, by the signed-in browser only.

The return address is checked as well: Save only ever leads back to a page of the same website, never to another site, whatever the link says.

For integrators

The same answer is available to assistants and tools: the MCP tool site_edit_links returns the edit links a user has on one page, and modules contribute links for the pages and blocks they own through the edit-link registry (register_page_resolver, register_block_resolver in the site module).
